Your Trading Profile is where you tell CoTrader your own rules: how much you're willing to risk on a trade, how big a losing day is too big, what kind of year you're aiming for. Once it's set, CoTrader flags the trades and days that break those rules so you notice the pattern instead of explaining it away.
It's optional and takes about two minutes. Nothing you enter here can stop a trade: CoTrader never places or blocks an order, so most of what the profile does is flag trades and days after a sync has run. The one live piece is the trade planner. When you write a plan, CoTrader compares its risk to your Max risk and warns you on the spot if you're over.
Where to find it
Open the menu from the top right, then Trading → Trading Profile. The screen is a single card of six numbers and a Save button. Every field is a plain number. The $ and % next to them are just labels.
We use these to auto-flag trades and days that break your own rules, e.g. a trade that risks more than your limit gets tagged “Overtraded” automatically, and shows up in your Home activity feed. Only applies from today onward. Nothing in your past history gets re-graded.
The whole screen. Fill in what you know, leave the rest blank.
The six numbers
- Account size. Total capital in the account. Everything else is a percentage of this one figure, so if you leave it blank, none of the flags below do anything.
- Max risk / trade. The share of your account you're willing to lose on a single trade, as a percent. It does more than any other field here. It sets the threshold for the two trade flags below, and when you write a trade plan CoTrader checks the plan's risk against it and warns you on the spot if you're over. The in-app hint calls it a hard cap. CoTrader can't cap anything, since it never places or blocks a trade, so read it as a line you get told about when you cross it.
- Ideal risk / trade. Your target risk per trade, and a fallback. CoTrader uses it for the flags below only when Max risk is blank. Fill in Max and this one is just a reference for you.
- Ideal daily volatility. The daily account swing you're comfortable with, as a percent. A day that loses more than this gets a Bad day flag.
- Drawdown appetite. The most you can stand to lose in a single day. A bigger daily loss gets a Drawdown breach flag. Set it above your ideal daily volatility: one means "worse than I'd like," the other means "this really hurt." Both look at a single day's net loss on its own, so a run of small losing days won't trip either one even when they add up to more.
- Return / year target. Your yearly return goal, kept as a reference. No flag measures against it today. It's a number to hold yourself to.
Hit Save profile when you're done. You can come back and change any of it whenever.
What it flags
Once a sync has processed your trades, CoTrader marks the ones that crossed your lines.
On individual trades, in your Smart Journal:
- Overtraded: a planned trade whose intended risk, from your entry to your planned stop, worked out to more than your Max risk.
- Big loss: any losing trade whose actual loss came in above your Max risk.
On days, as pills on the day header in Daily View:
- Bad day: the day's net loss cleared your ideal daily volatility.
- Drawdown breach: the day's net loss cleared your drawdown appetite.
- Over-risk: the day held at least one trade that got flagged.
When a Big loss or Overtraded flag lands, it also drops a line in your Home activity feed spelling out why.
The flag, with the math it's based on. An Overtraded line names the limit without the loss figure.
Good to know
- It only counts from when you set it up. The first save grades your recent history back to that day and no further. Trades and days from before never get flagged.
- Raising a limit later doesn't un-flag old trades. The trade tagger only adds, it never removes, so trades flagged under the old number keep their flag. Day pills for roughly the last month do recalculate on the next sync.
- You can dismiss any flag. Delete the tag and it stays gone, even after a re-sync.
